Belmont Mills has been in operation since the 1760s, first as a water powered mill for grinding oats and wheat. Then in the late 1700s early 1800s a tuck mill (for fulling woollen cloth) and a rape mill (for the production of vegetable oil) were erected.
In 2002 planning permission was obtained to convert the former stables of the Mill complex to artists’ studios and some accommodation. Currently the studios comprise five well lit and airy, high quality spaces for long and short term lets.
Here you can see all of our past and present artists who have come and worked at the Belmont Mill.
The studio is situated in a quiet riverside setting by the Brosna river in Belmont village, West Offaly.
